Brookside Energy Center

Located on a half-acre lot in Newark, DE, this project included electrical, water, and natural gas infrastructure for three megawatts of fuel cells to back feed Delmarva Power’s substation. The fuel cells, known as Bloom Boxes, generate some of the most energy-efficient and “green” electricity in the world. This was the first installation of the Bloom Boxes on the East Coast and the first installation ever to tie into a main electrical grid. At its completion, it was the largest installation of its kind with a total of 90 boxes. There is approximately 25,000 feet of overall piping and conduit throughout the site to support electrical conduits and piping for natural gas and water.
